Companies with natural forest concession rights in Indonesia 2023, by province
In 2023, there were 70 forestry companies with natural forest concession rights (Hak Pengusahaan Hutan or HPH) in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Most of HPH holders are on Kalimantan Island. In concession areas in Indonesia, processing and amassing wood is strictly prohibited. HPH holders are required to send the logs they cut down to a wood processing facility for tax purposes. In Indonesia, there is a distinction made between timber concessions whose primary purpose is to harvest natural forests and those whose goal is to establish timber and pulp plantations.
